Payment Options for

Couples Therapy Intensives

Why pay for a Couples Therapy ‘Intensive’ when hourly therapy is cheaper?

The cost for traditional weekly therapy generally isn’t cheaper, especially if you are paying ‘out-of-pocket’. It seems less because the weekly payment is spread out over 6 or 8 months, versus the upfront cost of the Intensive.

My 4 day Intensive (which is 35 hours) equals out to $255 hourly.

Weekly therapy sessions also literally give you less therapy time than my Intensives. Between the social niceties at the beginning of a session and the ending routines of a session, there is basically about 35 minutes of actual therapy time.

If you do the math, 35 weeks of hourly sessions equals less than 21 hours of actual therapy time. While 35 hours of my Intensive equals about 33 hours of therapy time (due to breaks and extra time I routinely give my couples).

My couples therapy Intensives have an upfront cost, but you are actually getting more for your money than traditional weekly therapy.

Will insurance pay for this?

To use your insurance, you must have ‘out of network’ benefits. There is generally a deductible to be met and then your insurance will reimburse a percentage of your costs. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee how much your insurance will reimburse you as different plans reimburse differently.

If you do not know what questions to ask your insurance company, ask me about that during our consultation and I can direct you with the exact questions you need to ask.

I want this to be affordable for you and will help you use your insurance if possible.

What about financing options?

I know what it’s like to have big unexpected costs on services I have needed (thinking of too many vet visits for my fur babies!). The financing options that vets offer inspired me to find something that could work for my couples.

If you have a credit score of 670 or higher, then apply for credit here and you should be able to receive a credit card with 0% interest for 15 months. This credit card can pay for part or all of the couples Intensive (it cannot be used for other expenses).

To be very transparent, the 0% rate lasts for 15 months. After the 15 months, your interest rate will increase (around 20 or 22%) but you pay interest ONLY on the remaining balance.

Example: You use the card to pay $8,000 for the Intensive. Over 15 months, you pay off $7,500. On month 16, you have a $500 balance remaining. Your interest rate will increase at that time to 20-22% but you will only be charged interest on that remaining $500.

Apply now to see how much you qualify for. You will receive a decision within minutes and then we can book your Intensive!

I am a consumer, like you, and completely trust this option to be transparent and ethical.

What is the actual cost?

It depends on the number of days. Couples commonly work with me for 3 or 4 days. Each day is 8 hours.

For 3 days (27 hours: includes 24 hours of couples sessions, 2 hours of individual sessions, 1 hour follow-up couples session, PLUS a follow-up email with recommendations, and resource manual).

The cost is $7,450.

For 4 days (35 hours: includes 32 hours of couples sessions, 2 hours of individual sessions, 1 hour follow-up couples session, PLUS a follow-up email with recommendations, and resource manual).

The cost is $8,950.

If you want additional days and book them ahead of time, the cost will be $1,500 per day. After we have started, any additional days will cost $2,000 per day.

The cost is similar to traditional weekly therapy, it’s just an upfront cost versus being spread out over 8 months or longer.

What if we invest all this money and it doesn’t work?

That is an understandable fear. Many people engage in traditional couples therapy and it ‘doesn’t work’; maybe they fight more, feel even more disconnected, and end up divorcing.

With my couples therapy Intensives, you are not rehashing old fights and pointing out who is the bad guy. Instead, you learn concrete skills and apply those tools to resolve your relationship issues. You are then more able to prevent future issues and resolve them at home if they come up.

As you learn how to communicate and connect skillfully, you will start doing things differently in your relationship. You will be able to discuss and address things more effectively. If your goal is to communicate more skillfully and understand your partner, yourself, and your relationship deeper than ever before, then the Intensive will work.

Additionally, the tools you learn are helpful with all of your relationships…your partner, children, siblings, parents, co-workers, etc.

Every couple I work with leaves in a better place. Every couple.

Are there ways to reduce the cost?

YES. If you pay in cash, I don’t pay the banks the 3% they normally charge. So, I pass that 3% savings on to you.

Example: If you pay with cash, a 3-day Intensive will cost $7,226 and a 4-day Intensive will cost $8,681.

Another way to cut costs is to use the financing option described above. Rather than a traditional credit card with a higher interest rate, the option gives 0% interest for 15 months (assuming your credit score is 670 or higher).

I want to be able to help your relationship and do not want finances to be an obstacle.

What is the cost of NOT doing a couples therapy intensive?

As much as I love and believe in couples therapy Intensives, I can’t say what might happen if you don’t attend an Intensive. I can speak to what I see happen with couples who do not try couples therapy, go too briefly, or have an unskilled couples therapist. I notice…
