About Asheville Center for Couples
Hello!
I am Bri McCarroll. I am a licensed psychotherapist and the owner and Lead Therapist for the Asheville Center for Couples.
I describe myself as kind, compassionate, intelligent, playful, and direct. When we meet for a consultation, you will see all that is true!
I have created this website myself, so it truly represents me and how I describe the work I do.
I love what I do and I am pleased you want to learn a bit more before you invest in a Couples Therapy Retreat with me!

My Approach as a Couples Therapist
Specialized
I have specialized in working with couples for the past 25 years. I am highly experienced in the two most widely recognized couples therapy models: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman’s Method for Couples.
Specializing in couples, I help in all capacities, including pre-marital counseling, new parents, coping with miscarriage, strengthening an emotional connection, affairs/betrayals, and divorcing with grace.
Skills Focused
Many couples love their partners so much, but they just don’t know HOW to do relationships skillfully. As a relationship coach, I actively teach and coach my couples with ‘what’ to say ‘when’ in their relationships.
I am practical and direct with my couples. We practice tools in the moment, discussing real topics, and I gently shape your communication efforts so you both leave with concrete skills and confidence.
“Bri is an amazing therapist and human.
Her compassion overflows in every session. She authentically and deeply cares about her clients. She is very knowledgeable in her field and amazingly skilled at steering the session in the best direction to serve her clients.
She is kind, responsible, punctual, and listens with intent. She is gentle and firm when it comes to being honest, especially when information is difficult to hear.
I highly recommend working with Bri. She is outstanding.”

“We did a 4 day couples intensive with Bri and it was SO well worth it. I can’t emphasize enough.
Her attentiveness and ability to hold the reigns tight for each of us allowed each person to be seen and heard.
Bri’s skillset, knowledge, exercises, and examples made things make sense. I left with plenty of homework and reflections; this was communication bootcamp!
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I recommend Bri to anyone looking to improve their relationship and communication.”Bri is an amazing therapist and human.

How I am Different
I love and am skilled at what I do
This comes through in my being fully-present, my compassion for your pain, my playfulness of spirit, my creation of a nurturing space, and my positive energy.
When I am with a couple, I am truly in-tune. I am skilled at sensing the unspoken emotions in people and gently acknowledging the difficulties we often try to avoid. I am also skilled at managing couples who tend to have a lot of conflict; I do not let couples fight in front of me; instead, I help them communicate.
My work as a couples and marriage therapist is not just a job. Couples seek me out when they are in crisis and it’s my responsibility to give my very best with every couple. I also know that the trust a couple is placing in me is precious and I do not take it lightly; I am often the last chance before a couples gives up.
Because of that, I actively research and improve my materials on a continual basis. I make myself better so you get the best.
Lastly, I experience an incredible joy in seeing couples connect and heal.
I truly care.
